Luminaria Run Traffic Patterns The Luminaria Run is designed to allow for as little traffic disruption as possible. however, detours may be necessary between the hours of 5:15 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. Please note that the run is approximately one hour and most roads should be clear of runners/walkers by 6:20 p.m. or earlier. Roads are opened as runners finish. Scopa Drive: The race begins at 5:20 p.m. and runners head north on Scopa Drive. Scopa Drive will be heavily restricted from 5:20 to 6 p.m. and will be open after that; though there will be some delays at Cave Creek Road as runners cross Scopa until approximately 6:15 p.m. Grapevine Road (north of Scopa): Runners will be traveling northbound/eastbound on Grapevine and Stevens. The road will be open westbound on Stevens and southbound on Grapevine and Scopa. Runners/walkers will be off Stevens and Grapevine by approximately 5:40 p.m.; however runners and walkers will still be on Scopa south of Horizon Drive. The road should be completely clear of runners and walkers by 6 p.m. Stevens Drive: Roads will be open in a western direction and then south on Scopa to Cave Creek Road. Avoiding this route between the hours of 5:15 p.m. and 6 p.m. will make life less stressful; however southern access is available. For those who want to avoid runners all together, they may head north and east on Ocotillo through the Carefree Estates and around to Mule Train. Carefree Drive (east of Tranquil Trail): Please head east on Carefree Drive to Mule Train Drive and you will avoid any runners/walkers on Cave Creek Road and Tranquil Trail.
